8(g) Superior Textbooks

The 8(g) Superior Textbooks Program will not be funded for 2010-2011.

The purpose of this program is to ensure the purchase of superior textbooks, library books, and/or reference materials for approved public and nonpublic schools.The 8(g) funds can be used for the purchase of not only textbooks, reference materials and/or instructional materials approved by the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education through the adoption process, but also textbooks, library books, and/or reference materials that are not on the State-adopted list. However, the materials purchased are required to meet the needs of existing as well as new and innovative educational programs for the disabled, gifted/talented, special needs students, and remaining population of students.

2009-2010 8(g) Superior Textbooks Proposal Guidelines  

Acceptance of Proposals for FY2009-2010
A complete Proposal Package for funds must include the following:

  1. Proposal Cover Sheet
  2. Compliance Form and Needs Assessment
  3. Assurances
  4. Budget Summary Form
  5. Budget Detail Form

All signatures shall be in blue ink. Submit the original and one copy.

In order to ensure the accuracy of the allocations, proposals will only be accepted between August 25 and September 25, 2009. Early submissions and incomplete Proposal Packages will be returned without review.
