The 2008-2009 8(g) Block Grant Guidelines were approved by the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education on April 17, 2008, and are now available to the public. Use the links below to access the main guidelines as well as Attachment A for Prekindergarten projects and Attachment B for Remediation projects.

8(g) Workshops and Events

In September 2008, the BESE - 8(g) Office hosted fall workshops to help project administrators manage their 2008-2009 Block and Competitive Grants. The workshops were held in Baton Rouge, Alexandria, West Monroe and Shreveport. Discussion topics included reimbursement requests, budget revisions, project evaluations, and end of year reports. Any agency which is not a public education agency that may be interested in requesting 8(g) funds from BESE must complete a Pervasively Sectarian Status Questionnaire to determine its sectarian status and certify under oath that its responses are true and correct.
