The 2nd Annual Cecil J. Picard Educator Excellence Symposium and Celebration will be held on July 18, 2008, at the Holiday Inn Select in Baton Rouge. This event is designed to honor Louisiana’s outstanding educators for 2007-2008 and 2008-09: La LEAD graduates, Milken Educator Awardees, National Board Certified Teachers, Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching winners, regional and state Principals of the Year, regional and state Teachers of the Year, LA Superintendent of the Year, State Superintendent’s Principals Advisory Group, and select Teacher Advancement Program Principals and Master Teachers. This event also provides an excellent opportunity to highlight the vital role of all Louisiana educators and to spotlight the very best of the best!

Through generous contributions from business and community sponsors, the Department of Education is able to provide the following activities as part of the 2nd Annual Cecil J. Picard Symposium and Celebration:

Educator Excellence Symposium--a full day of professional development that includes a nationally known keynote speaker, panels that will explore critical topics in education, and networking opportunities for participants

Educator Excellence Celebration--an evening gala featuring fun, food, music, and excitement to commemorate the contributions of this year’s honorees. This cocktail-attire event will be held from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m

Attendance at the 2nd Annual Cecil J. Picard Educator Excellence Symposium and Celebration is by invitation only. The deadline to receive RSVP forms was June 13th.
