Funding Opportunities
Federal and State Grants
State and Federal Programs assist local school districts and schools in addressing certification, teacher quality, professional development, and leadership development needs.
The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) is a federal grant program supporting quality education and accountability. Districts must submit a consolidated application for funds under this program on an annual basis. Two title programs under NCLB are
- Title II: Preparing, Training, and Recruiting High-Quality Teachers and Principals and
- Title V: Innovative Education Programs.
The 8(g) Local Teacher Quality Block Grant is a state grants program that provides funds to districts and eligible nonpublic schools/systems to support teachers in becoming certified and Highly Qualified, as defined by NCLB.

Title II, Part A
The purpose of Title II, Part A of No Child Left Behind is to focus on preparing, training, and recruiting high-quality teachers in the core academic content areas. Districts may use these funds to provide financial assistance to teachers to take required courses for certification and enhance their professional knowledge and skills.

State Professional Development Programs
The State Level Programs Section of the Division of Professional Development offers a range of professional development programs designed to provide school staff the knowledge and skills they need to transform their schools into student-centered and collegial communities where rich learning occurs. One such program is LINCS (Learning-Intensive Networking Communities for Success.)

LINCS
LINCS is an intensive, whole-school improvement effort designed and delivered by the Office of Quality Educators in partnership with the Louisiana Systemic Initiatives Program (LaSIP) and the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) Partnership. Each year, a Request for Proposals is issued, inviting districts to submit school applications to participate.
