The Louisiana Department of Education has created the Fiscal Model Training Module is to assist
local educational agency (LEA) staff with:

  • Identifying promising initiatives that serve as best practices for meeting educational priority goals identified by the State of Louisiana; and
  • Assessing how federal, state and local funding sources can be used together to implement promising initiatives.

This Training Module includes (click links to download PDF documents):

  • An introduction - Tools for Integrating Education Tools
  • An Initiatives overview that: (i) describes promising initiatives LEAs can implement to meet Louisiana’s priority goals; and (ii) gives examples of how LEAs may use different funding sources to support each initiative
  • A fiscal resource guide, Use of Funds Manual, that describes the rules governing major federal funding sources, which includes a summary or checklist of considerations LEAs should take into account when deciding how to fund initiatives.
  • A Checklist of Federal Fund Considerations
