LOUISIANA STATE SUPERINTENDENT CALLS FOR MOMENT OF SILENCE ACROSS LOUISIANA SCHOOLS
January 3, 2025Today, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry signed an executive order declaring a period of mourning for the victims of the heinous terrorist attack in New Orleans. In a letter to school system leaders requesting their observance of Governor Landry's order, Louisiana State Superintendent of Education Dr. Cade Brumley also asked school systems to consider a system-wide moment of silence at 9 a.m. on Monday, January 6. -
LOUISIANA K-3 READING SCORES IMPROVE
December 22, 2024Louisiana K-3 students improved their reading proficiency by 2.3 percentage points on a literacy screener given at the beginning of this school year. Student cohort data also showed a 9.3 percentage point increase, with 2023’s kindergarten class growing by 20.4 points in 2024 as first graders.
