Ensuring all students have access to quality math instruction from foundational to advanced skills is one of Louisiana’s education priorities. Families, caregivers, and communities play an essential role at all ages and stages of a child's education. We want to provide every student with the opportunities they need to master foundational math skills. The Louisiana Department of Education has free resources available to help parents support their child with math.
Zearn is an online math platform that blends digital lessons with teacher-led instruction to support student understanding and growth in math. The Louisiana Department of Education provides access to Zearn for all public schools serving students in grades K–8 as one of several tools available to help strengthen math learning statewide.
Families can also participate in free, month-long Louisiana Math Challenges that encourage K–8 students to complete at least three Zearn Math lessons each week. Each challenge includes a family flyer, lesson tracker, and celebration certificate (available in English and Spanish). New challenges are added throughout the school year—families can join anytime.
Louisiana's free math grab and go activities have drawn national praise for their benefit to students and families. Developed by our math experts here at the Louisiana Department of Education, each activity sheet comes with a list of materials, steps, and even a little something extra to help parents support their child's math journey. Activities are available for a variety of ages and grade levels.
