LOUISIANA STUDENTS ACHIEVE THEIR HIGHEST NATIONAL RANKINGS ON THE NATION’S REPORT CARD
January 29, 2025Louisiana students have achieved some of the most significant academic progress in the nation, according to data released today as part of The Nation’s Report Card. Widely regarded as the gold standard of assessments, these latest results measure math and reading proficiency among 4th and 8th grade students in the U.S. Louisiana’s students earned the state’s highest national rankings across both grade levels and subjects. -
LOUISIANA ANNOUNCES REGISTRATION FOR TEACHER LEADER SUMMIT
January 22, 2025Early bird registration is February 10 until March 14. The early bird cost for the three-day professional learning conference is $249. Regular registration will open on March 15 and continue through April 18 at a cost of $299. -
LOUISIANA LAUNCHES SUPPORT CENTER, WEBSITE HOME FOR LA GATOR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
January 22, 2025The Louisiana Department of Education has unveiled new resources to support the public in understanding and accessing the state’s first education scholarship account (ESA) program. The Louisiana Giving All True Opportunity to Rise (LA GATOR) Scholarship Program is set to open student applications by March 1 for the 2025-2026 school year. -
GOVERNOR LANDRY SIGNS LA GATOR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM INTO LAW
January 21, 2025Governor Landry signed the LA Gator Scholarship Program into law, which ensures every child has the opportunity of a great education, regardless of where they live. Governor Landry’s Louisiana GATOR (Give All a True Opportunity to Rise) scholarships will allow parents to choose the school that best suits their child’s needs. -

LOUISIANA STUDENTS SELECTED FOR US SENATE YOUTH PROGRAM
January 13, 2025Emily Nevils of Winnfield and Neal Tandon of Kenner were selected from among the state’s top student leaders to be part of the 104 national student delegation that will attend meetings and briefings with senators, the president, a justice of the Supreme Court, leaders of cabinet agencies, and other officials throughout the week. Each delegate will also receive a $10,000 college scholarship for undergraduate study. -

FBI RELEASES RESOURCES FOR NEW ORLEANS TERRORIST ATTACK VICTIMS
January 6, 2025The FBI’s New Orleans Field Office is seeking to identify potential victims of the Bourbon Street attack. The FBI continues investigating the horrific attack on innocent victims in New Orleans in the early morning hours of January 1, 2025. FBI resources across the country, including victim specialists, are responding to assist victims and family members who have been affected. -
LOUISIANA STATE SUPERINTENDENT CALLS FOR MOMENT OF SILENCE ACROSS LOUISIANA SCHOOLS
January 3, 2025Today, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry signed an executive order declaring a period of mourning for the victims of the heinous terrorist attack in New Orleans. In a letter to school system leaders requesting their observance of Governor Landry's order, Louisiana State Superintendent of Education Dr. Cade Brumley also asked school systems to consider a system-wide moment of silence at 9 a.m. on Monday, January 6. -

LOUISIANA K-3 READING SCORES IMPROVE
December 22, 2024Louisiana K-3 students improved their reading proficiency by 2.3 percentage points on a literacy screener given at the beginning of this school year. Student cohort data also showed a 9.3 percentage point increase, with 2023’s kindergarten class growing by 20.4 points in 2024 as first graders. -
MORE LOUISIANA TEACHERS CHOOSING TO REMAIN IN THE PROFESSION
December 22, 2024The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) previewed findings from their upcoming Teacher Exit Data Report today. The annual report shows a 2-percent decrease in the number of teachers exiting their current position. -
