$1,000 STATEWIDE CONSTRUCTION SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR JUMP START GRADUATES
February 14, 2025This unique scholarship provides $1,000 awards to Jump Start graduates who earn both a Jump Start credential and a Louisiana high school diploma, and who plan to enroll full-time in an LCTCS Construction Pathway Program or an Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) training program in the summer or fall immediately following high school graduation. -
LA GATOR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM SERVICE PROVIDER APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN
February 13, 2025Applications are now open for service providers seeking to participate in Louisiana's first education scholarship account (ESA). Set to open for the 2025-2025 school year, the LA GATOR Scholarship Program empowers parents to choose the education that best fits their child’s unique needs. LOUISIANA RANKS FIRST IN THE NATION FOR READING, SECOND FOR MATH ON LATEST EDUCATION RECOVERY SCORECARD
February 11, 2025A prominent national study from Harvard and Stanford shows Louisiana is leading the nation for academic recovery. The Education Recovery Scorecard ranks Louisiana first in the nation for reading and second for math. Louisiana is the only state where the average student has completed their recovery. -
US PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM NAMES 83 LOUISIANA STUDENTS AS CANDIDATES FOR 2025 AWARD
February 8, 2025The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program named the 2025 candidates for Presidential Scholars, and 83 Louisiana students made the list. Each year, up to 161 students are named U.S. Presidential Scholars, one of the nation's highest honors for high school students. -
LOUISIANA STUDENTS ACHIEVE THEIR HIGHEST NATIONAL RANKINGS ON THE NATION’S REPORT CARD
January 29, 2025Louisiana students have achieved some of the most significant academic progress in the nation, according to data released today as part of The Nation’s Report Card. Widely regarded as the gold standard of assessments, these latest results measure math and reading proficiency among 4th and 8th grade students in the U.S. Louisiana’s students earned the state’s highest national rankings across both grade levels and subjects. -
LOUISIANA ANNOUNCES REGISTRATION FOR TEACHER LEADER SUMMIT

January 22, 2025The Louisiana Department of Education has unveiled new resources to support the public in understanding and accessing the state’s first education scholarship account (ESA) program. The Louisiana Giving All True Opportunity to Rise (LA GATOR) Scholarship Program is set to open student applications by March 1 for the 2025-2026 school year. -
GOVERNOR LANDRY SIGNS LA GATOR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM INTO LAW
January 21, 2025Governor Landry signed the LA Gator Scholarship Program into law, which ensures every child has the opportunity of a great education, regardless of where they live. LOUISIANA STUDENTS SELECTED FOR US SENATE YOUTH PROGRAM
January 13, 2025Emily Nevils of Winnfield and Neal Tandon of Kenner were selected from among the state’s top student leaders to be part of the 104 national student delegation that will attend meetings and briefings with senators, the president, a justice of the Supreme Court, leaders of cabinet agencies, and other officials throughout the week. Each delegate will also receive a $10,000 college scholarship for undergraduate study. -

FBI RELEASES RESOURCES FOR NEW ORLEANS TERRORIST ATTACK VICTIMS
January 6, 2025The FBI’s New Orleans Field Office is seeking to identify potential victims of the Bourbon Street attack. The FBI continues investigating the horrific attack on innocent victims in New Orleans in the early morning hours of January 1, 2025. FBI resources across the country, including victim specialists, are responding to assist victims and family members who have been affected. -
LOUISIANA STATE SUPERINTENDENT CALLS FOR MOMENT OF SILENCE ACROSS LOUISIANA SCHOOLS
January 3, 2025Today, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry signed an executive order declaring a period of mourning for the victims of the heinous terrorist attack in New Orleans. In a letter to school system leaders requesting their observance of Governor Landry's order, Louisiana State Superintendent of Education Dr. Cade Brumley also asked school systems to consider a system-wide moment of silence at 9 a.m. on Monday, January 6. -
