How Course Choice Can Help Your Child

Every student deserves the opportunity to succeed. Course Choice removes barriers by letting students enroll in the courses they need to:

  • Graduate on time
  • Earn college credit while in high school
  • Explore careers and gain job-ready skills
  • Prepare for college entrance or career certification tests
Even if your school doesn’t offer a course, Course Choice might.

How Course Choice Works

Talk with Your Child

Discuss their interests and goals. Are they college-bound? Interested in technical skills? Need help preparing for a test?

1

Contact Your School Counselor

Your school counselor will help find eligible courses, explain funding priorities, and walk you through the process.

2

Enroll and Get Started

Once your child receives parental permission and selects a course, your school will handle the rest — from registration to scheduling and payment.

3

Who Gets Priority?

Course Choice seats are limited. Enrollment is prioritized based on student needs and state goals:

  1. Graduation or TOPS course requirements
  2. Fast Forward Pathways
  3. Dual enrollment or AP courses
  4. Students in CIR/UIR-A schools
  5. Academic and career recovery
  6. Test prep
  7. Locally identified priorities
Your counselor can explain what your child qualifies for this year.
