International Baccalaureate®
The International Baccalaureate® program offers rigorous educational options to students ages 3 to 19. The program aims to develop inquiring and knowledgeable young people. By taking International Baccalaureate® courses, students can earn college credit while still in high school.
The International Baccalaureate® works in four areas:
Development of curriculum
Assessment of students
Training and professional development of students
Authorization and evaluation of schools
Students must enroll in a full-time International Baccalaureate® program with six courses, including language arts, math, social sciences, experimental sciences, and foreign languages. Students that score a 4 or higher on a scale of 1 to 7 on the standardized end-of-course exams earn college credit.
The new cohort graduation index recognizes an IB® exam score of 4 or higher as the highest level of achievement earned by a cohort graduate. Each student with at least one IB® exam score of 4 or higher will earn the maximum 150 points toward the graduation index. Students who take an IB® course and earn a 1, 2, or 3 on an IB® exam will receive 110 points toward the graduation index.
Programs are developed by International Baccalaureate®, a not-for-profit educational foundation that operates around the globe.
