About the Louisiana Department of Education
The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) provides guidance and support to all publicly funded early childhood centers and elementary and secondary schools in Louisiana. Specifically, the department provides tools and resources to schools and school systems to support classroom instruction, assessments, workforce development and college and career preparation. Additionally, the department provides families and the public with transparent reporting of center, school, and school system performance and quality through the Louisiana School Finder.

Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE)
The LDOE is the administrative arm of the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE). BESE was established by the 1974 Louisiana Constitution. The Board is composed of 11 members: eight elected by the citizens of Louisiana’s eight BESE districts, and three appointed by the governor of Louisiana to represent the state at-large. Together, these members adopt and enact policies governing the elementary and secondary schools of Louisiana.

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) recently announced the recipients of the 2022 Eagle Awards, which recognize K–12 business professionals for their exemplary leadership and service to their school systems and the school business profession.
The ASBO International 2022 International Eagle Award recipient is Anya Bailey Randle, SFO, chief financial officer for Assumption Parish Schools in Napoleonville, Louisiana. Faced with the challenges of limited revenues in her rural school system, Randle implemented a program to restructure the district's investment portfolio, which allowed earnings income to increase an average of $425,000 per year and overhauled outdated spending mechanisms by nearly $2 million per year, which the district now utilizes to collaboratively prioritize initiatives. As a result, the district has its most significant fund balance ever—more than $23 million. A self-described servant leader with a vision of building the next generation of school business leaders, Randle established the Aspiring Leaders of LASBO (ALL) Institute to provide leadership and performance training for more than 120 future school business leaders.
“Anya deeply understands and exemplifies how our school business professionals directly impact students,” says Louisiana State Superintendent Dr. Cade Brumley. “We are proud that her dedication and leadership have been recognized on the national and international levels."
Randle will receive $5000 in college scholarships to present to Louisiana high school students. ASBO International also recognized three Distinguished Eagle Award recipients, who will each receive a $2,500 college scholarship to present to a high school student from their district: Christina P. Berta of Hanover County Public Schools in Ashland, Virginia; Channa Byerly of Duncan Public Schools in Duncan, Oklahoma; and Cindy M. Reilmann of the Francis Howell R-III School District in St. Charles, Missouri.
The Eagle Awards are sponsored by Equitable. "We admire the 2022 recipients for their commitment to education—especially during troubling times—and thank them for their service and leadership in their school districts and communities," said Fred Makonnen, Equitable’s divisional vice president and head of western public retirement markets and strategic partnerships.
ASBO International Executive Director David J. Lewis says. "This year's recipients have proven that a commitment to ensuring all students a high-quality education can overcome even the most daunting challenges. We are thankful for their service to their districts and the school business profession."
Randle will be formally recognized at ASBO International's 2022 Annual Conference and Expo, September 14–17, in Portland, Oregon.
