December 11, 2023The Louisiana Department of Education's Division of Nutrition Support is now accepting applications from eligible agencies and organizations to serve as sponsors and program sites for the 2024 Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), which provides healthy meals to children, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, during the summer months when school is not in session.

September 29, 2023The Louisiana Department of Education’s Division of Nutrition Support today announced it is seeking applications from eligible institutions interested in administering the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), a federally funded program that provides healthy, affordable meals to both children and adults. The program’s 2024 fiscal year begins October 1, 2023, and applications are accepted year-round.

July 13, 2023As students and teachers across the state begin to prepare for back to school, the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) is launching a new resource to help school systems prepare for the peak of hurricane season. State Superintendent of Education Dr. Cade Brumley released the LDOE’s first Hurricane Preparedness Playbook during an event today at Lakewood Elementary in Luling.

STATE SUPERINTENDENT WELCOMES NEARLY 6,000 LOUISIANA EDUCATORS FOR ANNUAL TEACHER LEADER SUMMIT
May 30, 2023The Louisiana Department of Education welcomed nearly 6,000 educators from across the state today for its annual Teacher Leader Summit. State Superintendent of Education Dr. Cade Brumley served as the keynote speaker for this morning’s opening ceremony, which also included the live announcement of Louisiana Teacher and Principal of the Year finalists and the Louisiana Public Interest Fellowship winners.
